Claire Scott

Fentanyl Blue

…and his body was blue

not blue like a summer sky

a child paints across the top of a picture

a strip of green at the bottom

not blue like blueberry pie

                  fresh out of the oven

eager fingers digging

                  beneath the crust

blue like nothing left

                  only a soundless laptop

a cup of cold coffee

                  an empty vial…
