David D. Horowitz

Edge

…………………………………..Each moment is a ledge,
And anyone can fall. The sheerest edge
Provides the grandest views, but I must nest
Before I risk fresh flight. I need to test
A bridge’s sturdiness before I’ll chance
Its road. But then I steady stance
And learn to navigate the foggy grays,
The darkness seeping through dusk’s reddish haze,
The speeders, cheaters, leaders whooshing past.
I might stay careful, might arrive home last,
But every moment is a ledge.
………………………………………………………..I reach
But do not fall. This moment is a beach!
