By Ishani Sen
You are a piece of modern art
Sharp curves and muted vivacity
Exploiting negative space.
People don’t understand you,
(But they pretend they do)
You hang on walls of lives unadorned
That piece? Oh yes, the lines are an
Allegory for the feelings of the
Oppressed.
(You are more than those lines,
But they don’t perceive)
Your bubble is small but
Devoid of the fresh breath of
Belonging.
With broken color and
Blurred focal points,
(What makes you different
From the landscape opposite?)
You are a piece of modern art
(But you wish you weren’t.)
