On this 25th anniversary of 9/11, we are all remembering the fright and confusion we felt that day, 9/11/2001. Anyone who has been to the 9/11 Memorial and Museum in New York City can attest to the feeling of deep grief and respect for the first responders and the sadness felt by the families of those who perished.
Many poets have written profound poems about the event, and many memorials have been erected. On this day, I present to you the poem by Annie Finch, an esteemed poet and my mentor.

Wounds widen the remembering earth.
Closed eyes see beyond the flames.
Grief opens hands to feel the wind.
Heart beats like ocean and hears the names:
May all find peace in their life.
